SS16 Hair and Make up Trends

Blue Eyes: Blue eye make up in different shapes and tones was seen all of the SS16 catwalks. Chanel applied the shade in an almost mask like style reaching across the bridge of the nose under the eyes white a deeper hue appeared on just the inner and mid section of the eyes at Marc Jacobs. Thinner, lined styles were seen at both Dries Van Noten and Hugo Boss. Blue seems to be the colour for this spring/summer as it features in all of the big beauty brands latest collections. 

 Spiky, Doll Lashes: Seen at Louis Vuitton were clumped, graphic lashes with focus on the bottom lashes in a style very reminiscent of the 60's, where as Marni adapted the trend with doll like extensions in a wispier style. 

Faux Freckles: Freckled skin is in for SS16 this year with brands choosing models with natural freckles or creating faux freckles on the models. Faux freckles were seen at Emanuel Ungaro, created by MUA Lucia Pieroni who drew the freckles on with MAC's lip pencil in Coffee. Even if not the main focal point of the look, freckled skins have complimented the make up looks seen at Derek Lam and DVF. 

Matte Red Lips: Matte red lips have made a statement on the catwalks this season, being the focal point of looks seen at Jason Wu and Oscar De La Renta, paired with naturally luminous skin. 

Vampy Lips: Unusually for Spring/Summer, berry toned lips were seen at Burberry, Emporio Armani and Anna Sui. The bold lips have been toned down by being paired with the fresh faced, freckly skin trend also seen all over catwalks this season. 

Metallics: Metallic gold lips were created by Pat McGrath for Prada, while Ashish went for sequins to give a glittery take on the trend. 

Braids and Cornrows: Plaits and braids were very popular this season, singular plaited ponytails were seen at Celine and Proenzer Schouler, while full on cornrows also made an appearance at Valentino.
